Display Week 2017, taking place from May 21-26 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. As always, Display Week will showcase the most exciting technologies in display research. This year, four special technology tracks will be included as part of the technical program: Augmented and Virtual Reality, Digital Signage Display Solutions, Display Materials and Processes, and Wearable Displays. In addition, a notable area of emphasis for the technical program this year includes sessions on automotive displays and user experience technologies.
This year, the Technical Symposium will feature 81 technical sessions comprising more than 300 oral presentations and nearly 250 poster presentations. In order to complement the Technical Symposium, SID and co-sponsor Display Supply Chain Consultants will also feature a Business Track that includes the following conferences (all with organizational support from): The Business Conference takes place Monday, May 22, and will feature presentations from numerous high-level executives from the display industry on topics such as the supply chain, consumer trends, next-generation materials, and more. The Investors Conference, with additional support from sponsor Stifel’s Electronics and Applied Technologies, takes place Tuesday, May 23, and will offer presentations from leading public and private display companies. This event is intended to appeal particularly to securities analysts, portfolio managers, investors, market and analysis specialists, and display company executives. The Market Focus Conferences take place on Tuesday, May 23, and Wednesday, May 24, and will feature market insights and analyses in the areas of Vehicle Displays and AR/VR, respectively.
The Symposium opens on Tuesday, May 23, with morning keynote addresses from the following speakers: Paul Peng, Chairman and President of AU Optronics Corp., who will discuss “The Warring States Era of Display Technologies;” Clay Bavor, Vice President of Virtual Reality for Google, Inc., whose talk is titled, “Enabling Rich and Immersive Experiences in Virtual and Augmented Reality;” and Dinesh Paliwal, CEO of Harman International, whose presentation will focus on “Humanizing the Autonomous Car” through advanced interfaces and user experiences.

The annual SID Awards Luncheon takes place Wednesday, May 24. During the luncheon, the 2017 Display Industry, Best in Show, and I-Zone Best Prototype awards will be presented, and the 2017 SID Honors and Awards recipients will be acknowledged. This year’s luncheon speaker is Pete Ludé, Chief Innovation Officer at RealD, who will describe how the cinema has become a fertile testing ground for display system innovation.

Other special programs this year include the CMO Forum, returning for a second year on Wednesday, May 24; a new Women in Tech (WiT) Forum, also on Wednesday, May 24; and a very special OLED 30th Anniversary presentation on Tuesday, May 23.

The usual unparalleled selection of Short Courses and Display Technology/Applications Seminars will be presented on Sunday, May 21, and Monday, May 22, respectively. New this year on Sunday, May 21, is the Introductory Display Metrology Course, offered by SID and the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM). Make sure you leave time to walk the floor of the largest electronic display exhibition in North America – open from Tuesday through Thursday, May 23-25. On the exhibit floor once again will be the highly popular Innovation Zone (I-Zone), sponsored by E Ink and featuring demonstrations of emerging information-display technologies.
